Today I conducted group therapy. I was the leader of the pack, the man with the plan. There were three of us (myself and two patients) sitting in the silent dayroom. We completed a worksheet for Laura, the "Leisure Lifestyle Inventory."
Then, an hour later, before lunch, I was listening to the Golden Oldies. It was me, Laura, and four older patients. One of them recognized each song from the audio tape. Laura and I were impressed. Another patient had a deck of cards in his hand and was quietly shuffling and dealing them one by one to himself. The other two were simply sitting there doing nothing. I had a lot of fun. Music is a nice pastime after all. This was a great way for these aging men to remember their days as young people.
